My New Friend: a Settlement Agent in Perth

My Settlement Agent Friend from Perth

Some of you might remember about my last post about my Perth trip. I enjoyed my trip so much that I actually found a new friend whilst there. When I told her that I will be publishing a quick post about it on my blog, she quickly replied by saying “sure! but just mention my first name, not my full name”. So with that being said, I will call her by her nickname Sammy. How I met her was somewhat unexpected, whilst travelling on a Perth train to city during my stay. It was my trip on the Joondalup line to the city centre, where my phone rang out of battery and I needed to make an urgent call to my hotel. That is when I asked around and the only person that offered their phone was my now friend Sammy!

For many of you out there, the mere fact that she lent her mobile phone to me was not a big deal. But to me, in time where I really needed to make that call, it was such a life changer. Somehow it has restored my faith in humanity. This wasn’t a social experiment or anything like that you sometime see in some youtube channel. It was real. Some people who follow me online have asked what that urgent phone call back to the hotel was all about? I was going to share it, but it was so personal that I had to keep it to myself. Anyways, Sammy was a settlement agents Perth specialist who helps people who are buying or selling properties in Perth deal with their settlement issues. Just a way to say thank you to Sammy, whoever is looking for settlement agent in Perth to go with her. Recommending people to her is perhaps only a small way to repay for what she has done to me.

It also turned out that Sammy was not originally from Perth but migrated about ten years ago. She mentioned how she understand me, the fact that she was in the same sort of situation during her first visit to Perth. What a coincidence hey? During my stay in Perth, after exchanging numbers, we ended up catching up a couple of times. We somehow just clicked and shared many stories with each other. In fact, she showed places there that was “out of the itinerary” per say. so i was very grateful for that.

Now that I have returned home, we still keep in contact. She did mention about coming over here to my hometown for a visit. So the moral of the story is that you never know who you will end up meeting during your holiday trips! This time around I met one of my now best friend.

My Trip to Perth, Western Australia

Today, I wanted to share my experience whilst holidaying in Perth. For those who don’t know where Perth is, it is the capital city of Western Australia. It is sometime referred to the most isolated city in the world. I won’t argue with that, just have a look at the world map and you’ll know what I mean. As many of you out there who knows me personally, I love to travel. I love to see the world. Also I love to share my experiences of traveling by publishing a brief post about the travel on this very blog.

My first impression of Perth is “wow”! And I don’t say that lightly. After coming out of Perth international airport I was amazed at how clean the place is. Everything seem to be in order. I hailed  taxi and tell him to head straight the Hyatt Regency hotel where I’ve my made my booking. The drive from the airport to my hotel was rather short, I didn’t time the trip exactly but I’d say it only took me about 15 minutes. A lot quicker than I first thought. Upon arriving at the hotel, and having a quick power nap, I decided to search for car rentals. After doing my research I decided to hire a car from Aries Car Rental, purely because they had very good reviews published online. You can visit their website at https://www.ariescarrental.com.au and I highly recommend you hire a car from Aries; as my experience with them was exceptional. They also have 8 seater cars and people movers available if you are traveling in a big group. Here’s a video of the company that I found on youtube:

My stay in Perth was only for 5 days. But in my opinion, it gave just enough time to explore the CBD area and places located about an hour’s radius from the city centre. But for those who loves the outdoor, I definitely recommend staying for an extra week. Going places beyond the city centre will consume a lot of your travel time, so make sure you take this into consideration if you are planning to explore places like Monkey Mia, Albany, The Pinnacles and The Wave Rock.

My eating out experience in Perth was good. They have a wide range of choice when it comes to food. If you love your asian food, then I recommend you visit an area called Northbridge; otherwise known as “China town” to the locals. I would also like to point out that Perth is home to some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in long while. One particular place is Kailis Fish and Chips, seriously they make one of the best fish and chips that I have ever tasted. Depending on the day, they also offer the fresh catch of the day – featuring some local fish freshly caught. Prices is according to market prices, so be prepared to pay a bit more on certain days.

Overall, my trip to Perth was an enjoyable one. Though I wish I could have stayed longer as I didn’t get to go some places that I saw advertised in the hotel brochure. Simply because I can’t afford the travel time owing to my limited time in Perth. Other than that, I highly recommend you going to visit Perth.

Balancing your Career and your Travel Plans

We all have our own responsibilities and obligations in life. Sometimes, you may find it hard to focus on one, especially if we are too occupied in fulfilling and maintaining a career. Aside from that, we also need to focus on our family matters. That is why we often fail to give ourselves a chance to explore the world, relax and have fun. That is not how life is supposed to be.

It could have been better, if we can balance everything because we cannot live fully with just one responsibility. We have to learn how to manage and balance to have a better lifestyle. What if you would like to travel? This is an ideal plan to run away from work stress. Anyway, there are a few tips here on how you can balance your career as well as your future travel plans.

Look at yourself

You are the ones planning here. So, what will you do to balance your career and your travel plans? Are you alone in managing everything at home? If you are living with a partner or kids, then what must they do to help you? It could have been better, if you have a company to help you sort things out because you are not alone in this world. What do you need in your life? Look at what is missing so that you will know what to do.

Planning a trip

When you travel, you have to make sure that you are not left with workloads because you cannot really enjoy knowing that you have a lot of things to do in the office. Make sure to finish all your tasks before leaving the country.

Make sure that you will book a flight in advance or check the best deals that you can get. Do not grab very expensive plane tickets, but pick the cheaper ones. You need to save some money for your trip because pretty sure that you need to spend.

If you are traveling with your kids, then make sure that they will not miss their classes. This is also a great time to be with the whole family. Pretty sure that they will all appreciate it. And then, if you are planning to travel with your partner, then make sure to inform this person in advance to prepare, too.

Set your goal

Let’s say that you are focused on your career because you want to save money for your family’s future. We are there and your point is really good, but you need to rest, too. It could have been better if you and your family will travel to different cities or countries. You have to set that as a goal.

Pretty sure that you need to spend for the necessities of the family. That is your obligation, anyway. So, the best thing that you can do is to also save some money for your travel expenses. And then, when the money is already enough, go somewhere with your family or partner and enjoy life.

Personal Travel Tips to Remember

Pretty sure that if you have plans of traveling outside the country, you will be very excited. Sometimes, we prepare too much stuff to bring. Sometimes, we also forget to bring some of our important things. It could have been better, if we a personal assistant to remind us what we need to bring and to tell us what we do not need. But, not everybody can afford to hire personal assistants because they require expensive professional fees.

Anyway, as travelers, we need to manage everything alone. Starting from our documents, money, check in baggage as well as our hand carry bags. That is why traveling must be planned carefully. If possible, we need to make researches and readings about the places that we are going to visit.

Preparation really needs ample time because we have a lot of factors to consider. We will not just simply pick a travel agency and book a flight. We need to know what others have to say about our chosen travel destination.

It could have been better, if we are going to travel with family, friends or loved ones because traveling alone is lonely. It is true that you can meet people from different walks of life. But, it is not that easy to trust strangers, especially you are not in your own country. Anyway, we have here a few tips for you to consider before finally booking a flight and packing your things.

Passport and Visa

Your passport is the most important identification that you must carry when traveling outside the country. Make sure that your passport is still valid. You have to check the date of expiration and see to it that it will not expire while you are traveling. When that happens, you will need to renew it immediately. Sometimes, the immigration will not even allow you to move out of the country if the passport’s expiration date is nearly coming. You won’t surely want to spoil your holiday, so double check your passports.

You must also ask if you need a tourist visa to enter your country of destination. There are those who forgets to verify this one. So, when they arrived at the airport, they were put on hold and sent to the country of origin. This will surely spoil your travel plan.

Documents

Do not forget to bring your itinerary, especially, if you made a booking online. You need the documents for booking your flight, hotel room, transportation, travel insurance and tours. These will be checked when needed. So, always keep them in your bag or if possible, make a duplicate copy of it.

Luggage

Do not leave your things unattended. Even if it has your name on it, make sure that your eyes are on it. And then, do not leave your valuable things and money in the hotel room because the housekeepers will come when you are not around to clean your hotel room. We are not saying that they will get your things. But, it would be best to keep your belongings safe.
